The Bethells Casters and Angling Club was formed in 1986 by a group of  dedicated West Coast anglers with a desire to share their love of fishing in friendship and safety with other like minded people. The club developed over the years to include members of all ages, both male and female and also, from all walks of life. It does not confine its fishing just to the West Coast beaches of Auckland, in fact, it considers the whole coast of New Zealand as its boundaries.

Members enjoy a monthly club meeting and a monthly newsletter to keep them up to date with club events and national fishing news. There are monthly shore and charter boat fishing days. Here they can go along for just a days fishing or try to gain points for the large variety of pins, trophies and competitions  run by the club. There are annual trips away to the Coromandel Peninsula and the Far North where we usually join with another club for a great weekend away. We enter into a number of interclub competitions within the Auckland region and have been successful  in bringing a number of great trophies home with us.

All Bethells club members are affiliated to the New Zealand Angling and Casting Association, which we strongly support and have active members on its executive committee. We send teams to each years nationals championships run by the N.Z.A.C.A. and hosted by regional clubs. We usually come home with a good share of trophies and awards for both shore and boat fishing and also casting events. (In 2006 we held the N.Z.A.C.A. Top Club of the year award for the second time)

Bethells also strongly supports the New Zealand Recreational Fishing Council and the work it does for the amateur fisherman throughout our beautiful country.
